I think another great aspect of Islam in the west is its active youth movements. There are youth movements in the muslim world too but I think the youth movements here are much more free to do what they want and have less restrictions.

Leadership; both practical, spiritual and ethical is an important element of Islam in the West. Muslim ethical ideas informed the Constitution of America. This occurred through western contact with Islamic thought; resulting in the western Renaissance. Ideas, as seeds, spread from that period with the colonists to the US and eventually influenced the US Constitution. Whilst these seeds were being sown, the Muslim world went on to suffer ideological as well as material rape; often through it's own complacency and internal strife. The result today is dysfunctional and corrupt regimes ruling what was once the great Dar al-Salam. Today, Islam is growing in the West. Those seeds planted long ago have germinated and are beginning to develop strong roots. Our children are being educated with traditional Islamic practices and their parents are actively engaged in internal spiritual struggle. Our children are soon going to realize inshallah that they are strong and that they have the potential to renew the Deen; through their unique grounding in both Islamic and Western tradition. The fruit; the opportunity for Islam in the West to become the leader the world so desperately needs.
