Muslim Rock Band, Project26, Opens for Outlandish in Los Angeles
Guitarist and songwriter, Ali Qazi, of Project26 pinged me the other day informing me of the following good news:
This is by far the biggest opportunity we’ve had since we banded a few years ago. In a way we also want to think of it as a major pay off for all the hard work over these years. So we want to take this time and opportunity to thank all our friends and family that helped us get this far, and hope you continue to lend your support to us.
So here it is……..(drum roll)……….June 21st…..Anaheim California…..Project26 opens for OUTLANDISH!!!
Yeah, you heard it right, YOUR Project26 and OUTLANDISH on the same stage.
This show is part of an effort by the youth segment of the Muslim American Society. MASyouth introduces “Voices for Change”, to create means of artistic expression that is nourishment for the soul and good conscience.

Thank you for your comment. We are not responsible for the akhirah and judgment of the individuals, organizations and/or rock groups that we post on our site. Please contact Project26 personally to discuss your views and judgments.
There are many futuwa, legal rulings, prohibitions, dispensations and everything in between about music. There should be a platform of discussion where we can evaluate more than one opinion.
My personal opinion: don’t post on a public platform about whether someone is performing a forbidden act. There are proper etiquette rules on how to advise someone if you feel that there is benefit in providing advice.

Your genuine concern shows that you care about the dunya and the akhira of your brothers in islam. Unfortunately, I really dont have anything to say for the argument.
You see, it wasnt easy for us to start doing this. We had to do extensive research before we decided that we were gonna do this. So it was a conscious decision to say the least.
The debates are already there and the arguments are already there.

If you can be certain that your comments won’t insinuate or condemn that all people who listen to music are facilitators of fornication and associating that Satan has a Quran, then I gladly encourage you to drop your comments and spread your rants.
Have you ever thought that not everyone who listens to music are facilitating the act of fornication? I cannot logically, spiritually see how someone like Sidi Yusuf Islam is a person whose music facilitates fornication, debauchery, and evil.
I definitely see how being too extreme can lead someone to ‘burn out’ (yes, burn, as in Hellfire) after being too restricted and adhering to an extremist mentality. After burning out, people incline to either:
a) evil ways
b) complacency
c) spirituality
Burning out is a reality and I came close to doing that after reading material and listening to lectures by a certain demographic our deen.

The Hadith stated above, even though it is in Bukhari, is found under the collection of “Mu’allaqat” meaning broken chain of narrations, or the chain whose narrators couldn’t be positively verified.

Dear Friends,
Speaking only as a lay person, I’d just like to interject that Muslim music groups can be a door to Islam not only for non-Muslims but for our own Muslim youth. Another thing to keep in mind is that these talents are God given and that most artists do what they do because of an internal drive to create.
I pray for the success of all of those amongst us that are calling to the good and beauty of Islam.
