Contest Overview

What’s it like to wear a head scarf on Main St., USA? How about to play soccer in one? How would you feel if just going to the bathroom on a plane made people around you nervous? Or are you the person that feels nervous?

We’re offering a $20,000 Grand Prize for the best new and creative short video exploring any aspect of life relating to the American-Muslim experience. Everyone in the U.S. is invited to compete, regardless of race or religion, so grab a camera and get filming. There’s a story in every community and friends just waiting to be made.

Videos can be voted on by anyone in the US. Entries receiving the top votes in each category will be judged by a celebrity panel of judges. The winner of each category will be awarded $5,000!

About the Contest

JUDGES:

Judges for the One Nation, Many Voices Film Contest include Sara Abassi, Danny Glover, Mariane Pearl, and Azhar Usman. For more information on the judges, visit our judges page.

CATEGORIES:

There are six categories: Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Animation/Music, Youth 18 and under, One Minute and less. Online voters will determine the finalists of each category. Top vote-getters will become finalists and eligible to win the Grand Prize.

PRIZES:

Contest prizes will be awarded as follows:

  • $50,000 in total prizes
  • $20,000 for Grand Prize (aka Best Overall Video)
  • $5,000 for winner of each category mentioned above.

(Yes, the Grand Prize winner can be awarded $20,000 plus an additional $5,000 for best in category!)

Finalists will also be aired on Link TV.
